Congratulations to Mike and Vicki Sussman who were presented the 2015 Vocational Service Award by the Rotary Club of Pataskala. The Sussman’s were nominated based on their work with West Licking Warrior’s Special Olympics. West Licking Special Olympics has served athletes in Western Licking County since 2003. The organization began with 8 athletes and now serves over 100 athletes in basketball, track, powerlifting, bowling, tennis, swimming, cheerleading and golf.

This week we participated in the United Way Week of Caring. Several members of our staff volunteered at the Licking County Library sorting and moving boxes of books. We are proud to be a part of this community and believe in the mission of the United Way. This is always a fun event to be a part of!

Gary Smith, our Director of Finance and Business Operations, was part of an advocacy effort to educate state legislators on the impact proposed cuts to Ohio’s Tangible Personal Property Tax (TPPT) would have on County Boards of Developmental Disabilities (DD). The proposed cuts totaled nearly $40 million in state revenue over two years. (more…)

 

A new Provider Certification rule (5123:2-2-01) goes into effect October 1, 2015. The rule establishes procedures and standards for certification issued by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities to providers of Supported Living services, including Home and Community-Based Services provided to individuals enrolled in Medicaid waivers administered by the Department. On June 1, 2015 new rules governing guardianship became effective. These new rules were issued by the Ohio Supreme Court. The rules include new requirements for the local probate courts that administer guardianship, and the guardians appointed by the courts. (more…)

 

 

The 2015 State Summer Games were on June 26-28 at The Ohio State University, Columbus. Licking County Special Olympics (LCSO) was one of the 88 counties represented there with close to 3000 athletes participating. LCSO had 48 athletes registered to compete, with 45 that attended. (more…)
