You can find the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities at 116 N. 22nd Street, but the true strength of our agency is the people who walk through the doors every day and the dedicated community members who make up our board of directors.
We are one of 88 county boards in the state of Ohio, supported by our county government and led by appointed board members who meet monthly to ensure our agency is following its mission and vision. Click here to learn more about our Board Members.
Our team of employees fulfills our daily operations, providing services and supports to people with disabilities. The values that guide our work are also reflected in the culture that makes our workplace strong. Click here to view our staff directory.
We are:
- Supportive: Every person we support has a team of people around them to empower them and help them meet their goals. We want our employees to feel that same level of support. Our different departments are set up with a team structure to make sure our staff members have every tool to be successful.
- Family focused: We hope our staff members see their co-workers as their work family, but we understand that people can’t be productive in their jobs if they don’t have a healthy work-life balance. That’s why we offer robust benefits to our employees as well as paid vacation and paid holidays.
- Ready to learn: We value honest feedback at LCBDD because we want to constantly be learning and improving. Our agency holds memberships to a variety of trade organizations, such as the Ohio Association of County Boards of DD, the Ohio Provider Resources Association and the Ohio Health Care Association. Our staff members are encouraged to attend trainings and conferences, sit on panels, participate in workgroups and collaborate with other county boards and community partners. In 2022 our agency started a Community Connections Committee, focused on bringing resources and training to our agency to better support our staff members as well as the people we support.
- Here for our community: We encourage the people we support to volunteer, and we want our staff to have that same opportunity. Every year our staff supports annual campaigns for United Way of Licking County and Operation Feed. Staff members have the opportunity to participate in the United Way Week of Caring and several other service projects throughout the year. Our staff members are also active in local service clubs and donate countless hours to community organizations in their personal lives.
Our agency started in Licking County in 1967 and our staff members have decades of knowledge to share. We are always willing to present to local businesses, schools and organizations. To schedule a presentation, contact Community Outreach Coordinator Leann Shafer by emailing Leann.Shafer@lcountydd.org.
