Opened in the fall of 2021, the Tollgate Home, was established to provide a local option for multi-system youth in Licking County who are in need of out of home placement.
Located in Etna Township, the home was constructed using funds from the Good Family Trust.
Charles and Lois Good, of Etna Township, established the trust in the 1980s to care for their son Lyle, who was supported by LCBDD, CSS and LICCO.
When Lyle died in 2018, LCBDD became the recipient of the remaining funds. After consulting with the family’s trustee, it was clear that construction of a home would align with the Good family’s wishes.
In the past, youth who needed to be placed outside their home would have to go outside the county — and sometimes out of the state — to find residential options to meet their needs.
Thanks to the Goods’ generosity, youth served in the home have the opportunity to remain close to their families, schools and support systems.
Although the home is owned by LCBDD, day-to-day services are provided by I Am Boundless. The home has the capacity to support six children or teens, ages 10-18.
