We are fortunate at LCBDD to have the opportunity to bring resources into our county that help people we support explore new ways to become more independent.
Momentum Refresh is a mobile, accessible restroom that can be set up at nearly any location. The vehicle is self-contained and has all the amenities needed for those who need a universal/adult changing table for personal care.
We were fortunate to have received some American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities to help bring this option to Licking County.
LCBDD’s Leadership Team and staff worked to determine which county events would benefit most from having a mobile restroom with a changing table on-site.
We are very thankful that the organizations who plan these events were willing to partner with us, to learn about Momentum Refresh and make space for the vehicle. Now people who need this level of assistance can participate in many of the wonderful community events in Licking County this summer.
Technology is all around us and we depend on it every day. Most likely, you are reading this newsletter on a device! There are many ways that technology can increase peoples’ independence, both at home and out in the community.
We are grateful to have resources available to offer various tech options that can increase independence, create safer environments, assist with speech and help schedule transportation and other appointments. These apps and devices increase what people can do daily, often without relying on someone else for assistance.
This increased level of flexibility that technology brings can lead to better outcomes.
I encourage everyone to check out the Momentum Refresh mobile restroom at one of the upcoming community events mentioned in our newsletter, and attend the “Empowering Lives with Tech” event, from 1 to 3 p.m. on June 17 at Denison University, to learn more about what technology can do for you.
