Learn more about becoming a DSP and apply for jobs at this new website!
For the past few years, the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities has been working to raise awareness about the need for direct support professionals (more commonly known as DSPs).
DSPs are the front line caregivers that help people with developmental disabilities live independently and meet the outcomes they’d like to achieve.
Some DSPs help the people they support with food preparation and household tasks. Others help them gain the skills they need to work in the community. Many individuals and their families are also looking for DSPs that will help them connect with the community and participate in activities they enjoy.
No matter who they are supporting, these DSPs are the lifeblood of our system and make an impact on the people they work with every day. But many people go through life, unaware that becoming a DSP might be a possible career for them.
The Licking County Board of DD is working closely with the Ohio Provider Resource Association and other county boards and provider agencies around the state to promote DSPOhio.org, a first of its kind website that allows job seekers to learn about the field, find provider agencies who are hiring and apply directly on the site.
Please join us in spreading the word about this critical resource!
