Recently you may have seen a few people who receive supports funded by the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities in the news!
These articles and reports display some of the efficient, yet effective services offered in Ohio, as well as how self-advocacy and technological supports can lead to a more independent life.
Working together with providers, we are privileged to witness people doing the things that are important to them. Just as significant is how the community has made this possible.
Thinking back 50 years ago, the services we have today probably wouldn’t have even been considered.
Through strong advocacy and a willingness to think outside the box, we now know that there isn’t an end to the possibilities for people with disabilities. It is our job to explore a wide array of options that are available so that each person can fulfill their goals based on what’s important to them.
We are very fortunate to live in a county that sees no boundaries, opens doors without hesitation — that were once not considered an option — and shares in the excitement when people make progress. It is our community, our home, our life and together, we can make dreams become a reality for all.
