Gary Smith, our Director of Finance and Business Operations, was part of an advocacy effort to educate state legislators on the impact proposed cuts to Ohio’s Tangible Personal Property Tax (TPPT) would have on County Boards of Developmental Disabilities (DD). The proposed cuts totaled nearly $40 million in state revenue over two years. Gary worked alongside Rick Black (Butler County DD CFO), Dick Williams (Seneca DD Director of Business Operations), and Michael Proulx (Montgomery DD Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations) to prevent the additional budget cuts. As a result of this large effort, the Ohio General Assembly kept $20 million in the General Revenue Funds to lesson the impact of a phase out of the Tangible Personal Property Tax (TPPT).
