LCBDD is partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Licking and Perry Counties to provide self-advocacy education in several Newark schools.
Big Brothers Big Sisters staff will regularly meet with students throughout the school year to work with them on:

- Life skills.
- Good mental health and self esteem.
- Future planning and career readiness.
- Online safety and social media responsibility.
- Communication and standing up for themselves.
Our hope is that students will be able to understand and practice the following concepts:
- Rights and responsibilities
- Self-knowledge
- Effective communication
- Problem-solving
- Self-determination
- Planning for the future
- Community membership
