My grandmother Margaret Gray was a big advocate for those with developmental disabilities. Her son (my uncle) Richard was born in 1955 with severe intellectual disabilities. Rather than put Richard in a county home, Margaret raised Richard at home where he learned to listen to vinyl records, ride a bike, and have a quality of life that was rarely given to that type of disability. In 1979, Margaret was recognized by Governor James Rhodes for her advocacy for those with special needs. And that is why I too, am an advocate for those with developmental disabilities.”
Gary was appointed to the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities by the Licking County Commissioners.
